Asset Match

Summary

Asset Match is the online marketplace to buy and sell shares in UK private companies. Private companies can now create liquidity in their shares in a fair and transparent way. Through regular online auctions, they provide owners of shares in private businesses a way to exit and give sophisticated investors access to investment opportunities in the untapped private company market.

The Challenge

When we originally began working with Asset Match they were in the process of doing a complete site rebranding and needed IT support with taking designs that had been created and translating those over to the functionality that they had while expanding the site functionality where needed. They also had an outdated Umbraco content management system that needed updating to match the new designs. The main issue that we faced was that it was a bespoke site with no documentation about the initial site implementation, this meant that we had to gain a rapid understanding of how the code was set up while also creating a development environment to be able to implement and test the changes that we were making.

The Solution

The site was split into 3 sections. The information section (which includes FAQs, case studies, etc..), the client section (which includes company profiles and auction details) and a support site which is used to make changes to the client section. We worked on adapting each section to match the new designs, this involved tasks such as:

• overhauling the login and registration system
• changing the way that adding, editing and deleting customers orders work
• cleaning up redundant code
• updating the CMS
•  revamping the company profile and auction sections

Once this initial project finished they were looking for an IT resource that they could work with regularly to assist them with tasks such as bug fixing, developing new features, implementing security fixes, etc. We are now in charge of the full development stack (including planning, implementation, testing and deployment of new features). We are also involved in server maintenance of the test and production environments.
